Window on our Earth

We could have,
We should have...
A generation and generations ago
But instead, drive on and drive over
Like road kill left
Give the future a nod
Sensibilities bereft
No passion play
And no time of day
We are left to wonder and watch in dismay
Global leaders will talk
And more scrap will idle off the assembly line floor
Destined for the heat of Mordor
